Sketchbook Stuff

Some friends of mine have finally admitted to looking at my drawing blog. Sometimes it's embarrassing and then I tell them to never look at it again. I have issues. Hi Whitney!

I'm starting to finally figure out my parent's printer. I still don't know how to lower the contrast levels on it, but it's getting there. Thankfully all my drawings are in pen so I don't have to worry about pencil stuff.
I'm not very happy with the quality of this, however. The top is when I drew my nephew speaking in church. And then an octopus attacked him while speaking and he never broke character. True story.

The bottom two are more church drawings. The top is copied from this brilliant artist, Courtney Godbey. Just another study in style.
More fanart of Flipped! I'm still not satisfied with Bryce's design. I WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED.
Augh I drew one eye bigger than the other Hey look, it's a WWII WASP! I think if I lived in that time I would so totally be one. They are the bomb.com. My grandmuzzer was a WAVE, but come on. WASPs can FLY. FLYYYYYYYY
And more WASPs.
Oh, and that picture I took last album? I was able to scan it and I cleaned it up in photoshop. BEHOLD! ...I watch way too much Phineas and Ferb.
Here's a picture I drew of myself and my friend Susannah. We have complete opposite body types and I wanted to draw it. I originally meant to do a height comparison as well, but I drew her too big so there I am, just hanging back in the background...lonely...nobody ever pays attention to me....

Okay that's it. You can go now.

Photoshop drawings and one pencil

Terribly sorry it's been a while. I haven't stopped drawing within the past few weeks, although I will not be showing you all that I've been drawing as it's part of a little self-project that I'm trying to organize until it makes sense. I promise I'll show you when I'm done. It's getting there, I swear.

Here's another "what I wore" that I worked on while waiting for our flight in the JFK airport. I probably won't finish it. That black-and-white thing is supposed to be a book.

Another reason for my absence is I got my wisdom teeth removed on Monday. I wrote and drew about it over here. Here are the drawings I did:

Notice the great pains I went to make sure I had every last detail.

I'm not kidding you about those multiple chins.
Okay, I didn't draw the "Forever Alone" guy, but I DID draw the hair.

This was the funnest to draw. Drawing me with a fat face made me reminisce about all those good ol' far side fat kids.
I'm rereading the Hunger Games right now. I had a horrifying dream the other week that I was in the Hunger Games and that a guy I knew in high school tried to kill me with a pizza cutter. While the dream was awful, it was still inspiration! I feel like Peeta would be the most likely to use this weapon.

Now that I'm home I HOPE that my parents' scanner will cooperate. So far it hasn't. Ah, well.

Sketchbook gushing

I got a new sketchbook two weeks ago. It's always the best feeling to finish a sketchbook, because it feels like I'm making so much progress.
Old one on the right, new one on the left. These are my ideal-sized sketchbooks.

So here, have some of the old sketchbook sketches:

An attempt at digital sumi-e

Drawing this was very zen. Does that make sense grammatically?
Did some more texture brushwork in Photoshop. Had no clue what I was doing.

EDIT: I don't know how tacky it is for me to point out my own flaws, since I can't STAND it when other artists are always ripping on their own work, but I feel the need to say that I hate the way I did the shading in this drawing and have got to use more references. Sigh. Other than that, I still love this drawing.

Different style

Inspired by Flomino's style of drawing what she wears and after looking at her awesome texture tutorial, I came up with this:
I got that huge t-shirt at a Guitars Unplugged concert up at BYU-I and bought the red sweats at Savers for my ice skating class. I LOVE those red sweats. They are the loudest piece of clothing I own.

I love drawing like this. It's fun, fast, and is a GREAT way for me to force myself to learn color without too much pain.

Sketcheroodle Froodle

So I managed to find the CD and install the software to connect my computer to my brother's laptop; unfortunately, it doesn't seem to scan at very good quality. So I'm trying to figure that out so I don't have to outline all my drawings because my outlines aren't the best PLUSSSS I feel like it sort of sucks the life out of my drawings. But maybe I'm just paranoid.

Enough chat. LET'S LOOK AT PICTURES
More hands! The quote in the picture is from a story I heard from my old stake counselor Stratton many eons ago. If I remember right, he had a concussion, and he kept saying this to the doctors every five minutes.

Some more digital arts 'n' stuffs

Only a couple of pictures today, folks. Digital art ain't the easiest, especially drawing with a tablet. Man, those things can be frustrating.
A WIP of an art trade I'm doing with a fellow artist on DeviantART. These are two of her characters, Emma and Will. Emma is actually the main character, but I seem to have made Will the main character. Dang. Well, I hope she likes it and doesn't beat me with a stick. Also, I can't draw guns and I'll be DEFINITELY using a reference for that.
This ridiculous contribution to society is mocking that second proposal scene in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice. My roommates and I were talking about how she never really gives him a definitive answer and I had to draw it.

Anyway, I'll probably post some sketches later this week, but they're extra sketchy.
